Letter from Dr. Kirby,
Hello, my name is Tim Kirby. I am the dentist and owner of Classen Family Dentistry. Welcome to our Oklahoma City family dentistry website!
In this letter I will describe our dental office and philosophy of treatment. You will see what makes us unique and why you should consider choosing us from the many other options in town.

Not many people enjoy going to the dentist. We understand that your time is valuable and that getting your teeth cleaned or repaired is not necessarily high on your “fun” list. You want to get in and out quickly and as pain-free as possible.
At our office we focus on time efficiency, convenience and comfort. Many dentists make these claims, but how do we accomplish these three goals?
1. Time Efficient OKC Dental Office
Many offices try to cram a large volume of patients into a small amount of time. They do this so they can bill many procedures to insurance. This philosophy unfortunately results in a lot of wasted time for patients who are made to wait for routine treatment and cleanings.
Unlike these offices, we do not double-book our two hygienists. This means that each hygiene appointment is set aside specifically for you and your wait time will be minimal.
We set aside one hour per cleaning visit. Often the visits do not take more than forty-five minutes but if we need more time, we can use it. Many offices only allow thirty minutes per cleaning visit. Our hygienists see seven or eight patients per day, not eleven or twelve.
As a result, our hygienists are happy and relaxed compared to those at other offices who are over-worked. Don’t you want the person cleaning your teeth to be relaxed and comfortable? This philosophy sometimes costs us money because if a patient cancels we are left with the hygienist sitting around with nothing to do for an hour.
This is a risk we are willing to take to benefit our patients. We are betting that our patients will respect our time as we respect theirs.
If you need dental work in Oklahoma City, the same philosophy applies. If you need a filling or crown, you will not be competing with ten other patients for my attention. I work out of two rooms and will be able to focus on giving you my full attention. My schedule is staggered so that for the majority of my time I am only seeing one patient at a time.
In many large chain dental offices, the dentists are doing their best but their attention is scattered because they are trying to see too many patients at once. They will work out of six or seven rooms and see walk-in emergencies from the street. At our office, your appointment time is valuable and we do not play those games.
2. Convenience in Oklahoma City
Convenience comes down to services offered, location, and availability.
We take most major dental insurance plans including Delta Dental, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Metlife, Health Choice, GEHA, Guardian, Humana, Cigna PPO and others. Call Annette and ask if we take your particular insurance.
You need an Oklahoma City family dentistry that can provide the services you need to maintain a healthy mouth. We offer a full range of dental services for the entire family including exams, x-rays, cleanings, ultrasonic dental cleanings, nitrous oxide, children’s dentistry, scaling and root planing, non-surgical periodontal therapy, white fillings, porcelain crowns, porcelain fused to metal crowns, gold crowns, bridges, implant crowns, porcelain veneers, composite bonding, tooth removal, root canals, removable partial dentures of different types, full dentures, implant dentures, Invisalign clear orthodontic treatment, teeth whitening home care systems and other services.
As you can see, we can provide many of your dental needs. However, I also try to be moderate in all things. I want to assure you that I as the dentist understand my limits and I refer out the work I am not comfortable doing to specialists. If you have a difficult root canal or impacted third molar, for instance, I may send you to a specialist for the most efficient treatment.
You need an office that is easy to find and close to your home or work. We are conveniently located at the NW corner of NW 36th and Classen in Oklahoma City. This location is close to I-44 and is easily accessible. Our office is convenient for many working professionals who may live in the suburbs but work in the city.
We are located close to Chesapeake and Penn Square Mall. We see many patients from the historic neighborhoods such as Crown Heights, Edgemere, Mesta Park and Heritage Hills. We are close to Nichols Hills and to downtown Oklahoma City. We offer dental service to greater Oklahoma City and surrounding vicinities including Edmond, Moore, Norman, El Reno, Piedmont, Guthrie, Jones and Luther.
Finally, you need an office that can see you when you need us. We also have immediate availability for dental exams, cleanings, and other treatment. If we do not have the spot you need we will put you on a call list to get that spot if someone cancels. We have lunch (noon) appointments available for busy professionals and on Thursdays, we are open until 6 p.m. If you have an emergency, we will do our best to work you in to the schedule quickly.
3. Comfort for the Whole Family in Oklahoma City
Our third goal is your comfort. You will notice a paper in the hygiene rooms that asks “Are You Comfortable?” with suggestions on what you can do to ensure a comfortable dental cleaning in OKC. Many people have sensitive teeth and gums. Our hygienists are trained to be gentle, yet thorough in their work.
When I am working on a patient, I always focus on their comfort as well. We always use topical anesthetic before a dental injection, which greatly reduces discomfort with the numbing process. I also take pride in giving gentle injections. This comes down to technique. Less pressure and slower injection rate equals less pain.
We have laughing gas (nitrous oxide) available in addition, should you need it. I always ask patients to raise their hand if they need a break during treatment, and we use mouth props to keep your mouth from getting tired during treatment. In addition, I try to be efficient and quick so your procedure does not take too long. Our dental chairs are also nice and up to date.
A great deal of comfort, however, is not dependent on our technique but on your peace of mind. With this in mind, we have a relaxed atmosphere at our office with soothing earth-tone greens, browns, and blues that will add to your peace of mind.
Our lobby has large comfortable armchairs for each patient and interesting reading material for your entertainment. Each of our treatment rooms feature large windows (5’ by 5’) that look upon landscaped gardens. This is a comfortable office for our staff to work at and the patients find it relaxing as well.
You will find that the staff knows many of the patients by first name and that they have been friends for many years. Our staff gets along well with each other as well which lends harmony to our workspace.
